About this tool
Drop two or more PDFs, use the arrows to put them in order, and download a single merged file. Merging happens inside your browser, which matters for contracts, invoices and ID documents. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
How to merge PDFs without uploading them
Most online mergers send your files to a server. This one does not. Your browser reads each PDF, copies the pages into a new document and saves the result on your device. That matters for contracts, bank statements, ID scans and anything else you would not want sitting on someone else's server.
Drop your files in, check the order, and click Merge. The combined file downloads as merged.pdf.
Getting the order right
Files are merged in the order shown in the list, from top to bottom. Use the up and down arrows to move a file, or the cross to remove it. If you need only some pages from a file, extract them first with the Split PDF tool and then merge the pieces. A good habit is to name files 01, 02, 03 before you start so they are easy to line up.
If a merge fails
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be read. Remove the password in the program you used to create them, then try again.
- Damaged or partly downloaded files will fail. Open the file in a PDF viewer first to confirm it displays.
- Very large files can run out of browser memory, especially on phones. Merge in smaller batches, then merge the results.
What may not carry over
Merging copies the visible pages exactly, so text and images keep their original quality. Document-level features such as bookmarks and fillable form fields may not be preserved in the combined file. Digital signatures will no longer be valid after merging, because any change to a signed document breaks the signature. If you need a signature, sign the merged file.
Keeping the file size down
A merged PDF is roughly the sum of its parts. If it is too large to email or upload to a portal, compress the images before you build the PDF. Convert photos with the Image Compressor, then combine them with the JPG to PDF tool, and merge that with your other documents.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
Why did the merge fail?
Password-protected or damaged PDFs cannot be read. Remove the password first.
Is there a size limit?
No fixed limit, but very large files depend on your device memory.
Is there a limit on the number of files or pages?
There is no fixed limit. The practical limit is your device memory, so very large batches may be slow on older phones.
Will merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, not re-rendered or recompressed.
