Keeping the proportions

Enter a width and leave the height at 0, or the reverse, and the other side is worked out so the picture is not stretched. If you enter both, the image is forced to that exact size, which distorts it unless the ratio matches. The scale percentage shrinks or enlarges both sides together.

Making an image bigger

Enlarging adds pixels that were never captured, so the picture gets soft or blurry. It is fine for a small increase, but for a big one you need a higher-resolution original. Shrinking is always safe.

Resize first, then compress

File size depends mostly on pixel count. A 4000-pixel photo shrunk to 1200 pixels wide can be a tenth of the size before any quality loss. When a form or portal asks for a small file, resize here first, then use the Image Compressor if it is still too large.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing stretch my image?

Only if you set both width and height to a different ratio. Set one and leave the other at 0 to keep proportions.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Drop several files and the same settings apply to each.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Drop several files, set a width or a percentage once, and the same rule is applied to each image.

Will resizing reduce file size?

Usually yes, because there are fewer pixels. Choose JPG or WebP as the output for the biggest saving on photos.
